Advanced Neurological Nursing from the Experts Who Understand It Best

Neurological recovery is complex. It requires experienced clinicians who understand how the brain and nervous system affect every part of a patient’s life—from mobility and cognition to speech, breathing, and daily function.

Alliance Homecare was founded by nurses who trained in one of the most respected neurological intensive care environments in the country.

Founded in Neurology

Our founders began their careers in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where they cared for patients with the most complex neurological conditions. That experience continues to shape how we train, select, and deploy our nurses today.

Alliance remains deeply rooted in neurological expertise—bringing skilled clinical care into the home for patients recovering from stroke, spinal injuries, brain trauma, and progressive neurological disease.

Conditions We Support

Stroke Recovery

Patients recovering from stroke often require close observation and coordinated care during recovery.  Our nurses support patients with:

  • Mobility challenges and fall prevention
  • Medication management
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Swallowing and nutrition oversight
  • Speech and cognitive recovery support
  • Coordination with rehabilitation providers

Progressive Neurological Conditions

Many neurological conditions require ongoing clinical oversight as symptoms evolve.  Alliance nurses support patients living with:

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease)
  • Dementia and cognitive decline
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Neuromuscular disorders

Our nurses help families navigate changes in mobility, cognition, and daily care needs while providing consistent clinical support.

Spinal Cord Injuries

Spinal injuries require highly skilled care and careful monitoring. Alliance nurses are experienced in supporting patients with:

  • Quadriplegia and paraplegia
  • Respiratory support needs
  • Mobility and transfer assistance
  • Autonomic dysreflexia monitoring
  • Skin integrity and pressure injury prevention
  • Complex medication regimens

Our nurses help patients maintain stability and independence while supporting families and caregivers.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Recovery from brain injury often requires both medical observation and day-to-day support.

Alliance nurses assist patients with:

  • Cognitive and behavioral changes
  • Seizure monitoring
  • Medication administration
  • Coordination with therapy teams
  • Family education and support

The Clinical Expertise Behind Alliance Nurses

Neurological care requires more than basic homecare training. It requires clinical judgment, observation, and experience with complex neurological patients.

Every nurse is carefully selected for both clinical skill and the ability to support families navigating difficult neurological diagnoses.

Alliance nurses bring expertise including:

  • Neuro critical care experience
  • Stroke and post-stroke monitoring
  • Ventilator and respiratory support
  • Tracheostomy and airway management
  • Seizure recognition and response
  • Feeding tubes and nutritional support
  • Medication titration and neurological medications
  • Complex wound and skin management
  • Mobility and fall risk prevention
  • Collaboration with neurologists and rehabilitation teams

Bridging the Gap Between Hospital and Home

Neurological recovery does not end at discharge. Patients often need experienced clinical oversight in the weeks, months, or years that follow. Alliance nurses help bridge the gap between hospital care and life at home by providing:

  • Skilled nursing oversight
  • Coordination with physicians and therapists
  • Monitoring for neurological changes
  • Family education and reassurance

Our goal is simple: help patients live as fully and safely as possible at home.

A Legacy of Neuro Expertise

Alliance Homecare was built by nurses who understand neurological care at the highest level. The training our founders received at Columbia Presbyterian’s Neuro ICU shaped the clinical standards that guide our care today. That legacy continues in every nurse we place and every family we support.
