Understanding Home Health Care: A Complete Guide

If you’ve heard about home care but you are unsure exactly what it entails, or you have been trying to get started with home care for yourself or your loved one, you’re in luck! In today’s post, we will discuss a little bit about what home care is, and how you can easily get started with your own home care provider.

Alliance Homecare is the premier home care service provider throughout New York. We specialize in home health aides, private duty nursing home care assistance for cancer patients, and elderly care. Our staff are highly trained, and have strong backgrounds in care. We are led by The Grandma Rule℠, which is our philosophy that we strive to uphold each and every day. This simply states that we will treat each and every one of our clients with the same respect, care, and tenderness that we would use on our own family. Contact us today to learn more!

What Is Home Care?

Home care is fairly simple on the surface. It is care for those recovering from illness or the elderly who can no longer care for themselves. Home care can also improve the quality of life of patients with chronic illnesses. For example, home kidney care can help a loved one lead a comfortable life while visiting dialysis clinics and medical establishments. At Alliance, the two main types of home care we provide are private duty nursing and home health aides.

Private Duty Nursing

These medically trained staff members will assist with daily medical tasks, consult with your family, give information to your doctors, and more. They will support your health through any necessary mandatory medical tasks from IV support, ostomy support, medicine management, and beyond.

Home Health Aides

Unlike our private duty nurses, home health aides are not there to provide medical support. While they can still assist with some medicinal activities like preparing medication or assistance with eating, they do not have the medical training for full nurse support. Their jobs are to care for our clients and assist with daily activities like dressing, bathing, exercise, and meal preparations.

How Do I Get Home Care

There are two main ways you can get home care services. For the hard way, you can work to find individuals, interview them, and spend your precious time and energy reviewing candidates to find someone you think will do the job well. Or you can choose the easy way, and work with Alliance Homecare. We are just a phone call or email away, and we will always put the needs of you or your loved ones first. Our staff are well trained, have received thorough background checks, and have years of experience under their belts so that they are prepared for any situation!
